Spontaneous Creativity

13 Aug

A couple of days ago the lovely @vforvoice (AKA Veronica Giguere  (7)) started tweeting individual lines of the song “Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music with the lyrics changed to reflect her love of all things fantastical and steampunkish.

I egged her on dared her encouraged her to complete the whole song. I know we all have busy lives, families, and responsibilities; but I am a HUGE believer in spontaniety. Especially spontaneous creativity. If we don’t take advantage of some (not all) of these spontaneous urges to create, to be silly, to just do some of these things that may not necessarily fit into our normal routines, then I don’t see the point in anything.

She did it! Then, she went one step farther. I said I wanted to hear it performed at Balticon next year. She said, why wait? Yeah, by the way, she’s a voice actress/podcaster and just happens to have a pro mic handy. Her voice gave me goosebumps.

It’s just a silly little parody. A silly little song. And SO much more.

Have a listen, give it a read. Then, go stretch your own creative muscles just a little bit today. Silly is good. Spontaneous creativity…awesome!!

Thank you to Veronica for sharing this with the world. Made my day!
