What inspires me? What drives me to create and break out of that mundane little box of Everyday?
At the core of it, I think it’s a matter of survival. The opposite of creation is death; without something new and vibrant, we artists would wither away. We would stagnate.
I’m pretty certain that a big part of who we are would die.
As a writer, I create to breathe life and give voice to the ideas and characters that live in my mind. I see writing as one way to create a community and bring people around a common theme. Writing allows me to play, to grow, to build upon a single idea through words and images. Writing – the creation of the art that is the written word – allows me to function within the mundane. To put it simply, writing allows me to have a better quality of life.
So I guess one might say that I write to live. I create to live.
