Creativity, Art, Inspiration and what those mean to me and my work…

Well, I write poetry and I try to post at least 2 new posts a week and I’ve done several projects where I’ve done daily posts for a month.

To be honest, I don’t consider my work overly creative or artful.  When I think of creativity, I think of something like music while the word art reminds me of something concrete like painting.  And with the heavy posting schedule I’ve tried to keep myself to – or catch up to – I often don’t think I put enough time into my poems to call them particularly creative or artful.  In fact, this reminds me of a quote I once read that says “a poem is never finished, only abandoned” and that is very much how I feel about my work.

Inspiration however…that is something I consider to be quiet poetic.  I consider the point of poetry, as well as other arts, to be to point out the beauty or divinity of and in everyday moments.  Because of this, I write on a wide range of topics such as feelings, elements, memories, and fantasies.  When I’m writing, I try to not only display the subject but also a perspective which together create a meaning that is all my own.  And if my words can touch or inspire someone else, then it’s a small vindication for the late nights and rushed mornings trying to craft something that will never be quite perfect.  The important point is to put something of myself out there and try to move people.  And I guess doing that’s something to be proud of.

Sometimes, we all have to let go of our creations and unleash them into the wild.

    Words that rhyme
    Are often sublime.
    Poetry is an art
    Found deep in our heart.

    and is always Creative.

      My poetic friends
      Order words in sublime ways
      That make my heart sing

      Thank you both!
